ARTIST STUDIO AFFORDABILITY PROJECT

ASAP IS AN ACTIVIST ORGANIZATION COMPOSED OF ARTISTS, ART WORKERS, EDUCATORS AND OTHER ARTS PROFESSIONALS DEVOTED TO PRESERVING AFFORDABLE WORKSPACES IN NEW YORK CITY 

VOLUNTEER

You do not need any prior experience or expertise to get involved. All you need is a passion for the issues, a commitment to supporting affordable rent for all New Yorkers, and a willingness to work. We are all learning as we go! Any amount of time you can offer, and any task large or small, is greatly appreciated. Contact us at

COALITION-BUILDING

We're looking for organizers to reach out to communities most affected by gentrification.  This includes ASAP participating in local events, rallies, and meetings to offer our support, raise the issue of commercial rent, and build bridges to groups that might be interested in commercial rent protection legislation.

TRANSLATION

Are you fluent in Spanish, Cantonese or Mandarin, American Sign Language, or another language? ASAP is building a base of volunteers to provide translation for our printed and online communications, during our live public events, and in meetings with multilingual community groups around NYC.

ART WORLD OUTREACH

ASAP is forming relationships with artists, publications, galleries, museums, art workers, collectors, nonprofit organizations, and others who support our mission. We're finding high profile art world and cultural figures to publicly sign the ASAP statement of purpose, and to make our cause more broadly known.

SOCIAL MEDIA

ASAP is seeking a social media enthusiast to help raise our profile through our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter presence.

EDUCATE OTHERS

These flyers are perfect for printing out and spreading the word. Leave them at a coffee shop, slip them under your studio mates' doors (no one will know it's you!) or staple them to an old-fashioned bulletin board—anywhere a human can see!
